Newton County’s backroads will become an art trail September 18–20 as the Ozark Painters, Makers & Shakers (OPMAS) Art Crawl returns for a free, self-guided weekend celebrating the creativity of the Ozarks.
Visitors will travel throughout Newton County discovering artists, makers, studios, shops, pop-up locations and creative spaces along the way. The three-day crawl offers an opportunity to meet the people behind the work, experience demonstrations, discover one-of-a-kind creations and explore some of the most scenic communities in the Arkansas Ozarks.
This year’s crawl is growing beyond traditional studio stops, with local businesses and other locations helping showcase area artists and makers. Participating locations and special experiences will continue to be announced as the event approaches.
The 2026 OPMAS Art Crawl also joins Arkansas Celebrates America 250 — Past, Present & Possibilities, highlighting the stories, traditions, skills and creativity that continue to shape our region.
